Overview
The Vault is where the user stores and inputs personal data, like birthday, gender, etc. No information is mandatory but the more users share, the more they can earn.
Low Vault Engagement
Users only visit the Vault on their initial onboarding session and hardly ever return. We hypothesize users fail to navigate back because the Vault is hidden in within the hamburger and users fail to understand they can earn points from inputting information.
Fraudulent Users
We need to implement ID verification to decrease the number of fraudulent users on the app. We decided the Vault was the best place to implement this because we are asking users for personal information and it will be secured behind a PIN in Vault.
Vault Recovery
We have seen a high volume of support tickets from frustrated users about not being able to recover their Vault. If a user forgets their PIN or loses their private key they are unable to recover their data and earnings.
Held a brainstorm with the team to discuss what we wanted to improve and new features we wanted to introduce. I then bucketed them into categories like, content, functionality, layout, etc.
Partnered with engineering and product to discuss what would help us reach our goals within scope.
Add Explainers
There were a few flows and variables to think through. For the ideal experience the user will need to have sufficient data from the corresponding source however, since the users' data was a huge variable, we had to think through all other scenarios. Another requirement worth noting is that we wanted to limit the amount of questions the user could ask per week.
Move Vault to Bottom Nav
By removing the vault from the hamburger menu to the bottom nav, we hope users visit more often than just on sign up.
Integrate ID Verification
How we decided to integrate the new ID verification flow within the existing flows. We had to consider new users, existing users because we need all users to complete this. The best way to motivate the user to complete verification was to make it a requirement for user pay out. Above is the flow on how we decided to capture verification in the vault and then again in the wallet if they defer.
Improve Vault Recovery
Cleaned up the Vault recovery flow by introducing the "Caden Recovery Kit" and an easy to way to save it with just a few taps.
Other Updates
Added new verification status/prompts and a snapshot of the user's connections with the ability to add more directly from vault.
Increased Vault Engagement
Users were visiting after their first session and inputting more data. We realized moving the vault for existing users would increase the likely hood of them engaging with it simply because it was in a new place so, we decided to only observe new users.
Increased Fraud Detection
We knew we could only improve on this since we didn't have a great way to detect fraud before.
Reduced Account Recovery Tickets
By making the account recovery instructions more clear, less users wrote in to the support team.
